With the rising popularity of weight loss injections such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro,

you may be thinking there is no easier way to lose weight quickly. However, whilst these

drugs may help to kick start weight loss, many people forget that there is some deeper work

to be done when it comes to changing old habits and behaviours.

For example, unless individuals start to change the way they eat when taking these drugs

and educate themselves in healthier food choices then the chances are as soon as they

stop taking the drugs some of the weight will return.

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone the body naturally produces to help regulate

appetite and blood sugar. These drugs are termed GLP-1 agonists which help supress

appetite, and manage blood sugar levels. As a consequence many people will eat less, but

may continue to eat the same unhealthy foods. This means that they will not be providing

their body with the right levels of nutrition, which could lead to further issues. By not eating

a variety of nutrients, they could be creating digestive problems, reducing metabolic

function, and muscle loss, all of which are fundamental for a healthy body.

Those taking weight loss drugs (or weight loss jabs) tend to experience a resurgence of appetite once they finish, and without behavioural change coaching or nutritional support, they can regain on average two thirds of the weight lost.

So what support is there?

A Health Coach will help to delve into the detail of your eating habits and behaviours. They

can provide sustainable lifestyle support, behaviour change tools, and nutritional guidance

that medication alone can’t offer.

Each person is different, and as such each person requires individual tailored support and

guidance. A health coach is someone who is there to help you make the right choices and

help educate you in eating in a balanced way for lasting results.

During the coaching process the focus will be on reviewing food choices and eating patterns, educating clients in natural ways to balance their blood sugars through eating the right foods. In addition, reviewing levels of hydration, what their lifestyle habits are, managing their time, and prioritising healthy behaviours in order to work towards their ultimate health goals. This may also include quality sleep, managing stress, building in exercise and movement into their days, and so much more.

When embarking on your journey with a health coach, you cannot help to experience

positive changes. Whilst there may be key issues you wish to address, a coach will work

holistically in order to manage all factors within your life that may be impacting your health

and wellbeing. They are also there to hold you accountable for the changes you agree to

make, whilst being someone who truly listens and supports you along the way.

In a nutshell, a health coach is the perfect solution to provide the support and guidance you

may need when any quick fixes fall short.
